July First Sunday Tasting!

Winter is well and truly setting in and we are making good progress on the pruning for another year - Pat (with assistance from Ryan and Phil) leads the charge and Dianne follows along to trim and wrap down the vines. It's a good system that we've certainly had plenty of time to perfect!

We are also very much looking forward to our

July First Sunday tasting, which will be this

Sunday, July 7th, from 11am.

And this weekend we are pleased to be releasing our 2015 'Eadie's Block' Shiraz. Our vines are planted across what was once two distinct family farms and our younger block is named after one of those families. The Eadie's were a Scottish family of stonemasons who tried their hands at growing mulberries for silkworms, apple trees and grapevines from the 1860s. Unfortunately, without irrigation, their efforts did not survive during drought and they instead turned their attention to building a water-powered mill on the creek that traverses the property and ground wheat to feed the growing population of Melbourne.

For this limited release Pat decided to make a wine exclusively from grapes from our younger vines. From Pat: "I think the reason for making this wine is to isolate the younger vines and see how they perform separate to the older block. As they mature they will find their way in to the main blend." As a result this wine is only available on our member cellar door and at the winery.

The 2015 Eadie's Block Shiraz is a medium

(almost crimson) red with savoury notes of black pepper and spice on the nose. The palate is savoury with oak overtones, a firm finish and a medium body.

You can order now through our member store - or we hope to see you this weekend at the winery to taste the new release in person!
